Nearly twenty-five thousand households in southeastern Queensland were left lacking electricity on the start of the week after severe thunderstorms passed over the area, bringing powerful gusts hitting 109km/h.
Large Ice Stones and Broad Impact
Residents reported giant hailstones as large as 7 centimeters in certain regions. Meteorological experts verified that different parts across the state had been hit with substantial ice precipitation.

Utility workers were working to restore electricity service throughout the impacted areas, with nearly 70 crews activated to address the extensive power failures.
Southern State's Climate Difficulties
Simultaneously, around 1,000 households in Victoria also faced energy failures after the metropolitan area saw its wettest day in over 500 days.
State Emergency Services responded to nearly 600 requests for assistance across the area, mostly for building damage but also for downed trees and water accumulation.

Meteorological Predictions
Humid circumstances were expected to linger along much of Queensland's east this coming days as a atmospheric system continued to pull in damp air against the coastal areas.
The following day was expected to become the most rainy day, with persistent severe weather risk predicted across different parts of both areas.
Health Warning
Health officials alerted that there was an increased chance of thunderstorm-induced asthma across the northern rural areas, particularly given the existing atmospheric conditions.
This alert comes after past events where similar conditions led to substantial respiratory problems in the area.
