A person who spiked sweets with tranquilliser and gave them to youngsters at a summer camp in Leicestershire has admitted sexual crimes against two young males both nine and 10.
The accused was taken into custody after eight youngsters and one adult fell ill at the facility in the summer month.
The senior citizen, from the Nottinghamshire area, pleaded guilty to a multiple criminal counts when he was present at Leicester Crown Court on recently.
Yet, he refused to admit one particular crime he was charged with, which was involving a young boy.
The accused was held in detention ahead of a subsequent court date on late November.
'Sweet game'
The prosecutor, prosecuting, outlined Ruben's offending to the legal proceedings.
She stated his targets were disadvantaged youngsters who were participating in a summer camp which he managed.
Ruben played a "sweet game" with the youngsters, the prosecutor stated, in which he would go into the boys' rooms when they were preparing to sleep and request they to ingest treats "as quickly as they can".
She told the court the man had engaged in this activity with the boys "repeatedly", and children had previously fallen ill the subsequent day.
She said the defendant had been successful in rationalizing this for many years as the children being "overwrought by enjoyment", until his stepchild had concerns in summer 2025.
The legal representative added: "This year his stepchild had concerns about the situation, justifiably.
"They decided to have a look in the defendant's belongings."
The legal counsel explained objects including baby oil, ointment and medical needles were located, and his stepchild notified the authorities about his concerns.
She stated the defendant proceeded to play the "treat game" with six boys that time - July 26th - and they were all ill the next day.
"Authorities" had not responded by that time," she added.
The police watchdog, the Independent Office for Police Conduct, earlier informed that it was examining the police response of the events.
The legal representative said the children were having difficulty walking due to their condition, so Ruben's stepson notified the police a second time.
She said Ruben then conducted the "treat game" in a space of five minors.
